Constructing Perpendicular and Angle Bisectors WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: Geometry, IM 2
CCSS: HSG.CO.D.12
CCSS Description: Make formal geometric constructions with a variety of tools and methods (compass and straightedge, string, reflective devices, paper folding, dynamic geometric software, etc.). Copying a segment; copying an angle; bisecting a segment; bisecting an angle; constructing perpendicular lines, including the perpendicular bisector of a line segment; and constructing a line parallel to a given line through a point not on the line.

Constructing Perpendicular and Angle Bisectors WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Use this worksheet prior to some of our Loci worksheets. Section A contains line segments that require a perpendicular bisector. Section B then extends this skill by providing circles with two chords. The centers of these circles can be found by finding where the perpendicular bisectors of the chords intersect. Section C has three angles to bisect, which is then extended on in section D. An extension exercise requires students to construct perpendiculars from points to lines.
