Understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis, with the convention that the names of the two axes and the coordinates correspond (e.g., x-axis and x-coordinate, y-axis and y-coordinate).

Learners will match coordinates on a grid to their written form and plot coordinates in the first quadrant throughout this worksheet.
In section A, students will connect points in a given order by matching coordinate pairs to their position on a coordinate grid. There are three to do and all form a polygon when complete. In section B, students will plot and label nine coordinates in the first quadrant.
