CCSS Description: Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12. Use the distributive property to express a sum of two whole numbers 1–100 with a common factor as a multiple of a sum of two whole numbers with no common factor. For example, express 36 + 8 as 4 (9 + 2).
Prime Factorization for GCF and LCM (B) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
Practice using the prime factorization of pairs of numbers to find the GCF and LCM with this worksheet. In section A, learners will write six numbers from 24 to 308 as products of prime factors before using these to answer four questions on LCM and GCF of these numbers.
Next, in section B, students answer four more questions, including GCF and LCM of three numbers. Students are encouraged to use their prime factorization method from section A.
Learners are required to use these skills to problem solve in section C, with two word problems. The worksheet ends with an extension where students will consider prime numbers being equal to the sum of two square numbers.
