Firstly, students will see 11 shapes drawn on a square grid (for easy size comparison) from which they will select 3 pairs of similar shapes. Shapes include triangles, parallelograms and trapezoids.
In section B, students will find the scale factor of enlargement from the smallest to the largest shape. The challenge increases in section C. Here there are six pairs of similar shapes. Students must find the scale factor of enlargements, use this to calculate missing lengths on shapes, and state the size of certain angles in order to emphasize that angles are equal in similar shapes. Finally, in section D, there are three word problems to answer, including some true or false statements.
