Solving Systems of Quadratic Equations WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: Algebra II, IM 3
CCSS: HSA.CED.A.2, HSA.REI.C.7
CCSS Description: Create equations in two or more variables to represent relationships between quantities; graph equations on coordinate axes with labels and scales.

Solve a simple system consisting of a linear equation and a quadratic equation in two variables algebraically and graphically. For example, find the points of intersection between the line y = –3x and the circle x2 + y2 = 3.

Solving Systems of Quadratic Equations WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

The questions in this worksheet will challenge learners to think about the different methods required to solve non-linear systems of equations. Section A provide sets of equations that can easily be manipulated into a “y=” format before solving for x. Section B presents questions that will require more algebraic manipulation and substitution methods. There is an additional extension question based on the area of parts of a flag.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Math.
