Number lines are a wonderful tool for learners to utilize for many different calculations.
This worksheet provides an example of how a blank number line can aid students when subtracting ones from three digit numbers where regrouping is required.
Templates are provided for the first few questions to guide students through using this model.
Multiples of ten are used as ‘signposts’ on the number lines as students consider what subtractions get them there and what else they need to subtract.
This method solidifies number bonds to 10 and prepares students for calculating mentally. There are 13 questions for students to answer in total.
