Cazoom Math has supplied various construction worksheets for your students to work on independently or even as part of a class-based activity. All our worksheets and answers are PDF and printable, therefore easily accessible.
In general, the term construction means building something. But when it comes to math it has a different meaning. Construction is the act of drawing geometric shapes only using a compass and a straightedge. When it comes to math geometric constructions, no measuring of lengths or angles allowed.
It is a drawing instrument used to create circles and arcs. It has two legs, one with a sharp point and the other with a pencil. With a simple adjustment between the point and the pencil, you can easily draw a circle.
Basically straightedge is a guide for the pencil for drawing straight or parallel lines.
1. Open the compass more than half of the distance between a given AB line segment.
2. Scribe arcs of the same radius centered at A and B.
3. Call the two points where the arcs meet C and D and draw a line between those two dots.
4. CD is the perpendicular bisector of the line segment AB.
